TABA Home-PAC News!!!

Home PAC would like to ask you to be sure to vote in your local elections and remind your family, friends, and business associates as well.  The Home PAC trustees received a number of calls to consider endorsements for local elections over the past month.  Among those considered and approved were:

  • The Temple Fire & Rescue Bond.  This bond would provide for much needed facilities for the Temple Fire Department.  These would include a Central Fire Station, a training center, an emergency operation center, and two new fire engines.
  • Patsy Luna, current Temple Mayor Pro-Tem, Council District 2.  Mayor Pro-Tem Luna has some tough opposition and asked our trustees for our support.  Patsy provided the trustees with an impressive list of accomplishments from her time on the Council and her service on community boards.  For more on Patsy Luna, please click here.
  • Jared Bryan, candidate for Morgan’s Point Board of Aldermen.  Jared is a young, energetic, and aspiring leader.  He has served on the TABA Board of Directors and been a very supportive leader for the home building industry.  He also serves on a local municipal board (Temple Building and Standards Commission).  He has asked for our support in his campaign and the trustees believe he will be a strong advocate in Morgan’s Point.  If you live in Morgan’s Point, or know someone that does, please vote or ask them to vote for Jared Bryan.
  • Dorothy Powell, incumbent in Temple ISD District 2 (Travis Middle School, Meredith-Dunbar Elementary, Emerson Elementary, Bethune Elementary), is in a contested race.  She has asked for and received the endorsement of TABA Home-PAC.
  • Tim Stephens, incumbent in Belton ISD.  Tim has been the executive director of Bell County Expo for the past 14 years and has served on the BISD board for the past 3 years.  He serves to assure quality schools in the district, to retain and attract excellent teachers, and help provide good forward thinking by district leadership.
As you can see, the above list only contains one Council candidate for your consideration.  The incumbents in the remaining Council districts in Temple and Belton that are up for election this year do not face any opposition.  The Village of Salado does have some contested races that our trustees were briefed about, but took no action on as we were not contacted by any of the candidates and do not have a history of getting involved in our smaller community races unless we are asked by the candidates or our members.

Today, May 6th, is the last day of Early Voting!  Election Day is May 10th.  To vote in the above races, please go to one of the following locations (between 7am and 7pm):
  • TISD elections, Fire Bond, Council District 2: Temple Municipal Building, 2 North Main
  • BISD: Administration Office, 6th Avenue (next door to Golden Chick)
  • Morgan’s Point: Municipal Building (8 Morgan’s Point Blvd)
