If you did not attend the TABA Reverse Raffle, you missed a great time. A BIG round of applause to Kelly Hosch of First Community Title and her committee, as well as Cheryl, Troy, Lisa McKinnon, and the professional auctioneering of Eddy Lange. Thank you to our sponsors, silent auction donors, and to Steve Wright for making the raffle board. If you were there, you know that Jason Carothers and I held the final two tickets. In the end, I caved under the $$$$ pressure and sold my ticket. Jason won second prize and JR Lester, who bought my ticket, won the truck! We had a wonderful evening filled with excitement.
Skeet shooters mark your calendars. The 4th Annual TABA Home PAC Skeet Shoot is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25th. Last year 116 shooters participated and we hope to have similar results this year. Whether you participate in the shoot or not, we hope you’ll come out and enjoy the day with us.
We moved the August Fish Fry/Associate Member Appreciation event to Friday, October 2nd. We are hosting a Bass Catch & Release Tournament at Temple Lake Park that morning, followed by the Fish Fry at noon. Although there is an entry fee for the fishing tournament, the Fish Fry is free to all. This is our first attempt at a fishing tournament and we hope that it will appeal to many of our members who may not normally participate in our skeet shoot or golf tournament. The support of our builder and associate members is critical to making this event a success. You can help TABA assure the success of this event by encouraging or even sponsoring the tournament entry fee of your employees who enjoy fishing. What a great way to say “thank you” to them for their loyalty and hard work!
We are proud to welcome the following new members – C Corp Development, Chris Butler, Arrow Electric, Michael Casto, DEK Insulation, Daren Degner, Master Interiors, Joe Blackwell and Johnnie’s Office Systems, Adam Guillen. We strongly encourage all of our members but especially our newest members to come and join us at our TABA events. Networking is the biggest benefit we offer our members but it doesn’t work unless you make it work for you. If you don’t shoot skeet then come join us for the dinner & auction afterwards beginning around 5pm. If you don’t fish then come join us for the fish fry that begins around noon. The opportunity is there you just have to make the effort to grab it.
If you are a current member whose renewal is coming up, we hope you know how important your continuing membership is to our association. Your TABA staff and leadership are working hard to keep our association strong. One of the most prominent things we’ve done for our membership over the past year is the implementation of the Buy Now marketing campaign. In times as tough as we’ve seen in years, TABA proved its commitment to our members and our industry by crafting a marketing campaign valued at more than $45,000. The campaign was designed to directly and indirectly help our membership with the ultimate goal to keep houses selling, builders building, and subs and suppliers working. Using our own financial resources, leveraging our member relationships, and pooling the talents of our leaders, we attacked the “down market” head on when our members needed us most.
The point is…TABA is here for our members in the good times and the difficult times and we need you to remember us and support us now more than ever. Please tell the people you do business with about TABA and encourage them to consider becoming a part of our family. We will survive and come away from these times even stronger than we were before and our industry will be better for it. As long as we are here, we are committed to supporting you. We’re all in this together. Thank you for your membership.
