Have you been by the TABA office lately? If you haven’t you will be shocked to see the immense progress that has been made over the past month. Framing is nearing completion on the addition, the women’s bathroom is complete and the demolition for themen’s bathroom is beginning. The color selections that Chris Alexander of Texas Tradition Custom Homes has helped with look exquisite and TABA staff are getting very excited about moving into their new digs. It is believed that completion of this project is moving right along schedule. We have received many donations from several of our Associate members and Builders members but we are still in need of several items and cash donations for the project. Cabinets, furniture, electrical fixtures and glass products are among the items we still have not secured. If you are interested in contributing any of these items please contact the TABA office today. We are inching closer to our cash donation goal of $100,000. If you plan to give money to this project please let us know as soon as possible. Knowing what our projected donation amount will be will help us to better budget for 2007. Remember, cash donations can be made payable over a three year term. We would like to give special recognition to Greg Jordan Enterprises for framing labor and Lengefeld Lumber Company for donating all of the framing materials. Thanks Bruce! If you see Bruce or any of his employees, please thank them for the huge donation they have made for your Association. We also need to give a big thank you to Stock Building Supply for roof trusses and Tri-Supply for doors and trim. Also need to say "thank you" to Best-Way Carpets for donating the flooring for the remodeled bathrooms. And one more - Earthstones for the tops in the bathrooms. As you can see our "Thank You" list is quite extensive but we are so pleased so that many of our members have taken a personal nterest in this project. We will continue to keep you updated on our progress and to recognize those that have helped us along the way. On The Level - Table Of Contents
It is important to recognize that our organization’s success is due largely in part to the strong leadership and solid administrative team in place at the central office. I want to thank Troy and Cheryl for the seamless transition in responsibilities of the executive leadership of our association. Without their daily efforts, our association would not be nearly as well-rounded and well informed as it is today. I highly commend their team work for the benefit of our association. They have raised the bar on the level of excellence for the homebuilders association. Our new facility is coming to life. With much of the framing complete, it is easier to visualize the association’s potential with this expansion. With that said, we still need your help in the area of capital campaigning. So many members have stepped up and donated money, materials and labor for the project, but we still have a great need for funds to complete the project. I would encourage you to consider the investment you are making in the association when you contribute to this project. Finally, I want you thank you for this opportunity to serve as our president for another term. I truly enjoy being a leader of an organization that makes things happen for the benefit for our community. I feel this association’s focus is purposeful and directed. I look for many more positive things to come. Sincerely, On The Level - Table Of Contents ![]() Elected Officials Night ‘06 We had a great turn out for our 16th Annual Home-PAC Elected Officials BBQ—which once again was sponsored by STOCK Building Supply. Thank You STOCK!!!Among the 240 attendees were public officials from the Halls of Congress in Washington D.C., to the Texas Legislature in Austin, to a group of officials who serve in a variety of capacities throughout the county and our local municipalities. Additionally, our members turned out in force and joined us in recognizing and thanking our leaders for their commitment to growth and quality of life in Bell County. As is our tradition in an election year, all candidates who have a slot on the November ballot were provided an opportunity to speak at the event. In all, the crowd heard from more than 20 candidates throughout the evening. Additionally, we had an opportunity to recognize about 60 public officials and special guests that were in attendance. The festivities were led once again by Mr. Marty Janczak of Earthstones Granite, who served as Master of Ceremonies. Marty has graciously served in this capacity for the past three years and we hope he will continue doing so for many years to come.Home-PAC Chairman, Jason Carothers of Carothers Executive Homes, provided the opening remarks and put in a plug for Home-PAC. It can’t be emphasized enough to our members the important role that Home-PAC dollars provide in assuring our association a voice in the political arena. The funds from Home-PAC allow us to support the campaigns of candidates that share the progrowth philosophies of TABA. If you are not a member, please consider joining. For more information about joining, contact the TABA office and we will provide you with all of the information that you need. I’d also like to say a special word of thanks to Congressman John Carter who led us in the Pledge ofAllegiance and to Jack Jones of Jones & Harrell, who led us in prayer to start the evening off.In addition to the work that Marty and Jason did in assuring that the program was a success, there were a number of people that deserve recognition for the behind the scenes work that they provided. These folks include:
• John Kiella of Kiella Homebuilders, who led our set up and take down efforts. • Mike Pilkington of Pilkington Homes, who assisted in set up and take down. • Ronny Mikeska of Kiella Homebuilders, who helped with set up and take down. • Bruce Walker of Lengefeld Lumber Company, who assisted in greeting officials and set up. • Daniel Mersiovsky of DMerz Domain Services, who assisted in set up. • John Paysse of Paysse Properties, who assisted in greeting our officials and take down. • Jim Howe of Omega Home Builders, who assisted in take down. • Justin Scott of Trinity Homes, who assisted in take down. • Pat Patterson of Patco Construction, who assisted in greeting officials. • Debbie Swift of Kiella Homebuilders, who assisted in greeting members and was our event photographer. • Cheryl Copeland, TABA EO, who assisted with just about every aspect of the event.Special thanks to each and every one of you, this event wouldn’t have been near as successful as it was without your great support!!! On The Level - Table Of Contents The General Election is fast approaching. Your Home-PAC Trustees have been working very hard for the past couple of months reviewing candidates and propositions for endorsement, dispersing checks to candidates, and leading "Get Out the Vote" efforts. NAHB, TAB, and TABA Home-PAC have chosen to support a straight Republican ticket on the November 7th ballot. Should you choose to follow suit, please do not forget to consider and cast your vote on the propositions that are also listed on the ballot. Foremost is the Temple College Bond Proposal, which TABA Home-PAC has fully supported. The candidates that TABA Home-PAC has specifically endorsed and financially supported in the November 7th election are: • State Representative, District 54 Jimmie Don Aycock • State Representative, District 55 Dianne White Delisi • Justice, 3rd Court of Appeals, Place 6 Bob Pemberton (not pictured) • County Judge Jon Burrows • County Clerk Shelley Coston • County Commissioner, Precinct 2 Tim Brown • County Commissioner, Precinct 4 John Fisher • Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1 Ted Duffield • Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3, Place 2 G.W. Ivey • Vote FOR the Temple College Bond Proposal • Additionally we stand behind NAHB and TAB in supporting the remaining Republican candidates on the ballot. In addition to the candidates listed above, Home-PAC continues to endorse and support State Senator Troy Fraser, who is a great friend of our industry. On The Level - Table Of Contents Successful PAC Season It’s been a great PAC season with two successful PAC events behind us. Home- PAC has contributed to some very worthy candidates and worth while causes that are sure to only enhance and improve our industry and the community. The Annual Elected Officials BBQ Night was packed with informative speeches from several people vying for office as well as a great BBQ meal. TABA wishes to thank STOCK Building Supply for again sponsoring this event. Home & Garden Show Update As I write this it’s not even November yet and the Home & Garden Show is 80% sold out!!! It speaks volumes to the value of this show for exhibitors. You can see on page 10 of this month’s newsletter that those booths that are shaded are already booked but more importantly you will notice that there are not many booths left that are not shaded. If you plan to participate in the 2007 show, please do not hesitate to call the TABA office as space is filling up quickly. Building Expansion Comments I want to again thank those who have contributed thus far to this project. It really is great to see members come together for one common goal. This expansion is going to mean an expansion of service for our members. I hope everyone can take a few minutes to drive downtown to see our progress. That’s it from my desk. I hope to see everyone at the Annual Awards Banquet on November 14th. On The Level - Table Of Contents |
